Huntsville

Multiple arrests have been made in Huntsville following a series of gun-related incidents over the past several weeks. The Huntsville Police Department has been active in responding to these incidents, resulting in arrests of several individuals connected to shootings.

Alyssa Messineo, a 23-year-old woman, was apprehended after allegedly shooting into an occupied vehicle on September 25. The incident occurred when the victim reported being followed and fired at while driving along University Drive. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the victim’s vehicle had been struck twice by gunfire, although no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Messineo was later pulled over by officers from the Anti-Crime Team for illegal window tint. During the traffic stop, police detected the odor of marijuana, which led to a search of her vehicle. Three bags of marijuana were discovered, resulting in charges of Attempted Murder connected to the September 25 incident and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree. Messineo is currently being held in the Madison County Jail with a bond set at $62,500.

In a separate incident, 24-year-old Jeremy Lane Boone Jr. was arrested early Monday morning after firing shots that struck a home on Shawmount Drive. Police responded to reports of gunfire in the area and found two individuals in a yard, one of whom ran into a nearby residence. Officers discovered that a nearby home had been hit by bullets but, like in the previous incident, there were no reported injuries. Boone has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

As police continue their investigation into gun violence in the area, they are also seeking 23-year-old Tyshaun Dominique Darnell Hampton. Hampton is connected to a fatal shooting that took place on Binford Drive on September 16. Officers responded to the scene where they found two men with gunshot wounds. One victim, 25-year-old Caleb Martin, died at the scene, while a second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary reports suggest that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Martin and the second victim, and that Hampton allegedly intervened and fired the shots.

Additionally, 18-year-old DaeShawn Dewayne Harkey was arrested concerning the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old on TeeJay Drive. Officers were dispatched after receiving reports of a possible shooting and found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Harkey indicated that he believed the firearm he was handling was unloaded when it discharged, fatally striking the victim. He has been charged with manslaughter.

These incidents underscore ongoing concerns regarding gun violence in Huntsville, prompting authorities to intensify their efforts to address such events and ensure community safety.
