Huntsville Gears Up for the ‘Silent No More Gala’ to Honor Women Veterans
Huntsville is buzzing with excitement as the nonprofit Invisible Warriors prepares to host a very special event on June 12 that promises to be both heartwarming and empowering. This gala is designed to honor the incredible women who have served our country in the military, and we can’t wait to see the community come together for such a worthy cause.
A Night to Remember in Huntsville
The Silent No More Gala will take place at the Holiday Inn Research Park, located at 5903 University Drive NW. Starting at 5:30 PM and running until 8 PM, the evening will feature a wonderful lineup of entertainment, including live performances by the Twickenham Jazz Band. After the formalities wrap up, dancing will continue until 11 PM for those looking to let loose and have a bit of fun!
Recognizing Women Veterans in Alabama
With approximately 100,000 women veterans in Alabama alone, the significance of this event cannot be overstated. It will mark Women Veterans Recognition Day and will feature a keynote address from Retired Maj. Gen. Paulette Risher, who has dedicated over 34 years to military service. Maj. Gen. Risher made history as the first woman to serve in U.S. Special Operations Command as a general officer, making her insights and experiences particularly inspiring for the audience.
A New Proclamation and Fundraising Efforts
One of the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of a new proclamation recognizing Women Veterans Recognition Day. Alabama will officially become the 21st state to honor the 1948 Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, an important piece of legislation in the fight for equal rights for women in the military.
The gala also aims to raise much-needed funds for Invisible Warriors, which provides weeklong retreats for groups of women veterans. These retreats, set in peaceful wilderness settings, are completely free for the participants and have been shown to promote better healing in a supportive environment.
Event Details and Ticket Information
If you want to be part of this memorable evening, tickets are available for just $75 each through the event’s website. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show support for our women veterans while enjoying a fantastic night of entertainment, food, and community spirit. To help make this gala even more successful, sponsors and donations for the silent auction are being actively sought, so if you’re interested in contributing, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Building Community with Networking Events
Beyond the gala, Invisible Warriors has announced new monthly networking events exclusively for women veterans and active-duty service members. These gatherings take place on the second Monday of each month from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at the Clayton E. Moneymaker American Legion Post 237 in Huntsville. No reservations are needed, and there’s even an option to join by Zoom, making it easy for everyone to participate!
These meetings offer a safe space to discuss the unique challenges faced by women in the military, covering topics ranging from transitioning to civilian life to taking advantage of VA benefits. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, which adds a great social element to the gatherings.
