HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Three Huntsville City Council members began new four-year terms Monday after a swearing-in ceremony at City Hall, and the council quickly reshuffled its leadership.
All three won reelection this year: David Little represents District 2, Jennie Robinson holds the District 3 seat, and Bill Kling serves District 4.
Right after the ceremony, the council held a special session to pick officers for the coming year. Members chose Little as council president, Robinson as president pro tem and Kling as third presiding officer. That flips the previous lineup, in which Robinson led the council, Kling served as president pro tem and Little was third presiding officer.
Robinson’s path back to the dais ran through a runoff. When the council certified the District 3 runoff results, she had 3,776 votes, or 52.36%, and turnout in that race was 19.89%. Little and Kling had already been certified on Sept. 1.
At the swearing-in, Little credited City Hall staff with fast customer service that he said makes his job easier. Robinson thanked supporters and spoke about hard work and not giving up. Kling said he wants District 4 to keep improving and remain a great place to live as Huntsville grows.
The new leadership gets to work quickly. The council’s next meeting is Thursday, Nov. 5, and Mayor Battle is scheduled to give his 2026 State of the City Address on Nov. 9. Regular meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the first-floor chambers of the Municipal Building.
