HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Seven high school football teams from the Huntsville City, Madison County and Madison City school systems are still playing in November after earning spots in the 2026 AHSAA playoffs.
Five of them open the postseason Friday, Nov. 6, with 7 p.m. kickoffs. Two others earned first-round byes and will not play until Nov. 13.
Huntsville City Schools sent two teams. Mae Jemison went 5-4 in the regular season and travels to Parker, which is 9-1. Huntsville High finished 4-6 and heads south to face a 7-2 Vestavia Hills team. Both city teams open on the road.
Madison County has three teams in the bracket. Sparkman owns the best record of the group at 8-2 and has a first-round bye, so the Senators wait for a second-round opponent. New Hope, at 7-3, plays at unbeaten Hatton, which is 10-0. Buckhorn, at 6-4, hosts a Spain Park team with the same 6-4 mark.
Madison City also landed two teams. James Clemens finished 8-2 and, like Sparkman, sits out the opening round with a bye. Bob Jones, which went 5-5, plays host to 4-6 Hoover in the first round.
Friday’s first-round schedule for area teams: Huntsville at Vestavia Hills, Mae Jemison at Parker, New Hope at Hatton, Spain Park at Buckhorn and Hoover at Bob Jones. All five games start at 7 p.m.
Teams that win Friday advance to the second round on Nov. 13, when Sparkman and James Clemens join the field.
Both Madison City and Madison County programs saw winning seasons, with three area teams finishing 7-3 or better. Five of the seven play in Class 6A, with Mae Jemison in 5A and New Hope in 3A.
